ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship supports full-time PhD research in social sciences including Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, History, Geography, Education, Commerce, and Management. About 1,000 fellowships are awarded annually.

Renewal: Up to 3 years for full-time PhD in social sciences

Eligibility Criteria

Level of Study

Enrolled in full-time PhD programme in recognised university

Minimum Marks

55% in Masters (50% for SC/ST/PwD)

Age Limit

Max 45 years

Registered for PhD in a social science discipline
Indian citizen
Not holding any other fellowship

Benefits & Amount

✓₹28,000/month for first year
✓₹30,000/month for second year
✓₹35,000/month for third year
✓Annual contingency grant: ₹25,000
