Announced by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in July 1975 at the onset of the Emergency, the Twenty Point Programme (TPP) was an ambitious social and economic programme aimed at land reforms, removal of rural indebtedness, provision of house sites to landless, bonded labour abolition, minimum wages, literacy, and family planning. It was revised in 1982 and again in 1986, with a new Twenty Point Programme 2006 launched by PM Manmohan Singh.
