The Social Security Scheme for Handloom Weavers, operated by the Ministry of Textiles, provides group insurance covering life, accidental death, and disability to handloom weavers. Premiums are shared between the government and the weaver with LIC and New India Assurance as implementing agencies. Weavers also receive coverage under Janashree Bima Yojana components.
