Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation
Launched in 1990-91 and substantially expanded in 1994-95 during the Eighth Plan, NWDPRA aimed at sustainable development of rainfed agriculture through watershed approach covering soil and water conservation, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and animal husbandry in micro-watershed units. It covered 25 lakh hectares annually and was merged into the Integrated Watershed Development Programme (IWDP) and later IWMP in 2009.
