Check Official WebsiteLaunched by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 12 April 2005, NRHM was the landmark health systems strengthening programme that transformed rural primary healthcare in India. It introduced the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) programme, strengthened PHCs and CHCs, introduced Rogi Kalyan Samitis, and dramatically expanded institutional delivery through Janani Suraksha Yojana. NRHM was merged with the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) to form the National Health Mission (NHM) in May 2013.
