The SGRY included a special component providing additional central assistance to state governments for providing wage employment during natural calamities (floods, droughts, cyclones). States could claim additional funds beyond their regular SGRY allocation during declared natural calamities to restore damaged infrastructure and provide employment to calamity-affected rural workers. This component was absorbed into MGNREGS's special works provision in 2006.
