AAY targets the poorest of poor households, providing 35 kg of food grains per household per month at highly subsidised prices of ₹2/kg for wheat and ₹3/kg for rice. Under NFSA 2013, AAY grain is now effectively free at central issue price after PMGKAY integration in 2024.
